

The Chuo Graduate School of International Accounting, which opened in April 2002, is a new professional graduate school specializing in accounting and finance. In April 2003, with the revision of a portion of the School Education Law, the School was reorganized to reflect the upgrading of the School. The aim here is to cultivate experts with a high professional commitment and specialist knowledge in global standards of accounting, capable of taking an active part in a variety of arenas. The School will take mature professionals who seek to upgrade their skills and become accounting professionals suited to the new society and businesses of the 21st century, as well as fresh graduates aiming to become accounting professionals. Emphasis in the curriculum will be given to seminars, and the aim will be to foster, by discussion and individual guidance, individual autonomy and initiative, and a high sense of professional commitment.
An Introductory Curriculum will first apprise students of the basic mathematics and statistics required for accounting and finance. Students will take courses in Principles of Accounting I and II, Introduction to Quantitative Analysis Methods for Finance (Statistics and Mathematics), and Financial Market. To help them grasp the role of accounting in modern society as well as the conceptual methodology to deal flexibly with problems encountered, they will also take case study courses in Accounting and the Network Society, Accounting and Management, and Accounting and Environment. Next, to deepen their overall understanding of international accounting and theories of finance, the Basic Curriculum will offer courses in Introduction to International Accounting, and the Fundamentals of Finance I and II. Students aiming for a degree in International Accounting will be required to take Introduction to International Accounting and the Fundamentals of Finance I, while those aiming for a degree in Finance will be required to take Introduction to International Accounting and the Fundamentals of Finance I and II. Finally, students will go take courses from the Advanced Curriculum, to acquire further skills and specialist knowledge for future business tasks. Students aiming for a degree in International Accounting will take subjects from course groups of International Accounting, Public Sector Accounting, Environmental Management, and Management Consultant, while those aiming for a degree in Finance will take subjects in the groups of Tax-Related Subjects, and Financial Manager.

The Chuo Graduate School of Accounting (CGSA) was established in 2002 at the launch of International Accounting Standards Board. Since then CGSA’s development has coincided with the international accounting trend. Its objective is to provide highly specialized personnel particularly in the area of international accounting and finance. To date, approximately 700 students have graduated from CGSA. The more important the area of international accounting and finance becomes in light of fast-paced globalization, the more prestige CGSA gets. Please focus your attention on CGSA.
