Students will receive practical training concerning the building of community that is resistant to seismic disasters and exists in harmony with nature through field surveys in the Kami district, Hadano City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The district is located in an idyllic rural area on the Hadano basin at the base of mount Tanzawa-Ohyama. Urbanization is impossible because the district is located in an agricultural promotion area, and the population has gradually been declining. Practical training will be conducted concerning regional surveys and facilitation based on the local studies to conserve biodiversity, revitalize regional society and solve population problems (build child-rearing support villages) in cooperation with the Hadano municipal government and regional councils. Focus will be placed on the regional plans to be established.
