Coastal Disaster Management Research Laboratory

The failure prediction method for the protective facilities against tsunamis, storm surges or high waves, still has not been established yet. One of the purposes of this project is to develop the highly precise inundation simulator which can involve the effect of the failure of the protective facilities, such as breakwater or sea wall. This simulator can predict the damage of town due to the tsunami and storm surge inundation. And also the wave analyzing tools should be advanced to estimate the effect of the failure of the breakwaters on the calmness in ports. The other purpose is to develop the evacuation simulator coupling with the highly precise inundation simulator, which provides the verification for the evacuation plan. For this purpose, the three dimensional numerical tank and the visualization tool are also developed.
